At Stanah Primary School, every child is welcomed, valued and supported to be the very best they can be. We are an inclusive school and work hard to make sure that all children, whatever their needs, feel happy, safe and able to thrive.
We understand that children learn in different ways and at different speeds. We work closely with parents, carers and external professionals to make sure each child receives the right support at the right time.
How we support children with SEND
We are committed to providing equality of opportunities for children with SEND and disabilities. Our aim is for all children to be fully included in school life and to enjoy a broad, balanced and enriching education.
To help us do this, we:
- Get to know each child as an individual and celebrate their strengths
- Provide appropriate support so children can achieve their full potential
- Ensure staff receive regular training to support a wide range of needs
- Have high expectations for every child
- Review our provision regularly to make sure it is effective
- Work in partnership with families and other professionals
Our school policies reflect our commitment to inclusion, equality and supporting children with additional needs, and we regularly review these to ensure they meet the needs of all pupils.
SEND Coordinator (SENDCo)
Our SEND Coordinator is Miss Vicki Holloway, who oversees SEND provision across the school and supports staff, children and families.

The Local Offer (Statutory Information)
The Local Offer is a Local Authority’s publication of all the provision “they expect to be available across education, health and social care for children and young people in their area who have SEN or are disabled, including those who do not have Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans.”
(Section 4.1 SEND Code of Practice, January 2015)
The Local Offer has two key purposes:
- To provide clear, comprehensive, accessible and up‑to‑date information about the available provision and how to access it
- To make provision more responsive to local needs and aspirations by directly involving disabled children and those with SEN and their parents, and disabled young people and those with SEN, and service providers in its development and review

The local authority, as the coordinating body for admissions, will require professional supporting evidence if admission is to be made under the criterion for special medical or social circumstances.
Such evidence must set out the particular reasons why Stanah Primary School is the most suitable school and the difficulties which would be caused if the child had to attend another school.
